Construction Injuries and fatalities are prevalent in New York

Every construction worker in New York has the right to a healthy and safe work environment. The New York Committee for Occupational Safety and Health recently revealed alarming details about construction worker injuries. It was determined that construction sites in the city are unsafe and poorly managed.

Obtaining workers' compensation benefits in New York

Most New York employers are required to carry workers' compensation insurance. In the event an employee is injured on the job or while performing job-related duties, workers' compensation benefits should pay for an employee's medical costs as well as any resulting disability or loss of functioning.

CDC report details high injury rates among nurses and nursing assistants

The job of a nurse is demanding on many levels. Not only are nurses responsible for the care and general wellbeing of patients, but they are also tasked with physically assisting, moving and lifting patients. Given the general work demands associated with the nursing professional, it's not surprising that nurses and nursing assistants are at an increased risk of suffering work-related injuries.

Not every work injury is physical in nature

Workers' compensation exists to help individuals who suffer job-related injuries account for the related financial expenses. In most cases, the injuries for which workers' compensation is awarded are physical in nature. It's important to note, however, that workers' compensation benefits are also awarded to employees who suffer psychological work-related injuries.
